From Modesto, California, Scott, 28, has lived on a farm but "did not work on it," though he did take part in 4-H activities. Between college years and prior to graduation from San Francisco State College  in economics (honors list ) this past March, Scott helped pay his way with work as a truck driver, equipment parts department clerk, men's clothing assistant buyer, machine operator for a San Francisco bank, cab driver, and, very briefly, a bartender.  Basketball and all outdoor activities interest him, especially skiing, baseball, tennis, and golf. He has traveled over a good part of the United States and Mexico.
