Esther Glaser Parada 1938-2005
(with information in AFTERIMAGE, by James Rajotte, 2005)

Esther, who died of cancer in 2005, was a PCV in Bolivia, 1964-66. She taught at the Escuela de Artes Plasticas at the Unversidad de San Francisco Xavier, married a Bolivian (later divorced), and had a distinguished career in the photographic arts and university teaching.

A professor of photography at the University of Illinois, Chicago, Esther's works are found in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, among others. Some of her photo "essays" revolved around Latin America, and she often referenced her service in Bolivia as a source of inspiration. She was also a published author, with essays in various anthologies in the photographic arts.
